What is this NDT (nondestructive testing)? What does it do? To give a few examples with various control methods of the materials produced in the manufacturing industry;
Visual inspection Visual inspection is used to examine parameters affecting quality such as discontinuities, structural defects and surface condition on a material surface with or without an optical aid. Ultrasonic Test In this non-destructive testing method, the high frequency (0.1-20 MHZ) produced by the inspection probe is propagated in the test material and reflected back into the probe after it hits a discontinuity and thus it is detected by the probe in order to detect discontinuities in the material desired to be examined. Radiographic Test Electromagnetic waves with high energy can penetrate many materials. Radiation penetrating a certain volume of material also affects the photosensitive films placed on the opposite side of the material. The image of the internal structure of the material through which the radiation passes appears while bathing the affected films. Magnetic Particle Test Magnetic Particle Testing is an inspection method used to detect surface defects. Errors do not have to be open to the inspection surface. Besides being an easy and effective method, being a quick method also plays a big role in applicability. Penetrant Test Penetrant inspection method is an important inspection method used to detect surface defects. Errors must be open to the surface being examined. Therefore, errors that remain under the surface or whose gaps are closed for any reason cannot be detected with this method. The methods performed with these tests are called non-destructive testing, namely NDT.
